—Orange, CA—Chapman University's 1,044-seat multipurpose Musco Center for the Arts opened with a black-tie gala, featuring performances by Placido Domingo, Deborah Voigt, Milena Kitic, graduates of the Chapman vocal program and the Chapman Orchestra, conducted by John DeMain. The design of the interior chamber was inspired by the Italian "ragnaia" or secret garden, expressed via acanthus-plant inspired panels, which provide the complex reflections and diffusion required by renowned Yasuhisa Toyota's acoustic design.
