Cerritos College

Performing Arts Center

Norwalk, California

We worked with Cerritos College on the design and construction of their new Performing Arts Center, which bridges the college campus and the surrounding community. The Center’s program is articulated in three distinct building masses: a large, central element, which captures major performance venues, with flanking L-shaped bars to the west and east that house Music and Theater programs respectively. These lower bars bring the scale of the PAC down to adjacent buildings on campus. Their strategically bent forms also serve to define four distinct landscape spaces that will enhance student experience and the functionality of the campus as a whole. The 77,000-sf facility provides the music and theater departments with spaces for instruction and performance, and facilitates collaboration between the college and the community. It serves to enhance the college’s mission to support and enrich the arts on campus, in the city of Norwalk, and the region.
