Alberto Cavallero, AIA, LEED AP

Principal

As Design Principal of Pfeiffer, Alberto contributes to the conceptualization and design of projects firmwide. Throughout his 25 years of experience, his work has been informed by his conviction that architecture should be expressive of program and purpose, contribute to public life, and surprise and delight. Drawn to large, complex projects, he has been design leader on significant institutional and cultural projects of various typologies, both domestically and abroad. In 2011, after his tenure leading the KlingStubbins Washington DC studio, where he authored building designs and master plans for the Smithsonian Institution and the Architect of the Capitol, Alberto joined Diller Scofidio + Renfro as an Associate Principal. During his tenure as Principal at DS+R, he was designer of the Aberdeen City Garden, Kennedy Center Expansion and Koc Contemporary Museum; project director and design lead for the MoMA Expansion project and Columbia Business School projects in New York; and sustainability/technical advisor on all then current studio projects. In advancing Pfeiffer’s design process, Alberto’s style promotes collaboration. He sees the design team as a multi-disciplinary think tank, conducting deep inquiry into the site, the applicable technology, and the client’s needs and aspirations.
