William Murray, FAIA

Principal

Bill leads our performing arts practice, an extension of his life-long interest in the arts and culture. He is a founding Principal of Pfeiffer Partners and was previously a Principal of Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer Associates, joining the firm in 1990. Bill has spent his career working with acousticians and theater consultants in creating some of the most renowned performance facilities in the United States and Canada. His recent design of the Taylor Centre for the Performing Arts at Mount Royal University, with its 900-seat concert hall, was named the 2016 Top Project of the Year by Alberta Construction magazine. Similarly, his efforts in transforming Duke University’s historic 1930’s Baldwin Auditorium into an intimate, acoustically superior concert hall for the School of Music garnered numerous awards, among them SCUP’s AIA-CAE Excellence in Architecture Award for building addition, renovations and adaptive reuse. Bill is an active member of the United States Institute of Theater Technology (USITT) and has juried its awards over the past several years. In 2016, the American Institute of Architects recognized Bill’s contribution to the profession by electing him to the College of Fellows.
