Pfeiffer has been commissioned by Brentwood School to implement the first phase of its ambitious 30-year Education and Campus Master Plan, encompassing the design of a new Middle School Building and Parking Garage on their East Campus and a new Lower School Building, known as the Saltair Building, on their West Campus. Brentwood School made the strategic decision to relocate the 6th grade to the East Campus to consolidate a full Middle School within the Upper School campus. The Middle School complex will have 72,000 gross square-feet of new construction, with an additional 102,000 square-feet of subterranean parking beneath a new athletic field. In addition to classrooms and science labs, the new building will include a 375-seat multi-use theater complete with performer support spaces and prop shop, a library, a dining hall with a full-service kitchen, arts and technology studios; including choral and dance studios, music rehearsal and practice room. The building will accommodate patio spaces integrated with the building for student gathering spaces, as well as, exterior dining. The new 2-story Saltair Building adds 28,500 gross square-feet to the West Campus Lower School, with the majority of spaces dedicated to new classrooms for the sciences and arts, including a multi-purpose room. The 5th graders, as well as new kindergarten classrooms and child care will be incorporated along with enhanced exterior green spaces. The existing parking structure is being extended to provide an additional 25 spaces beneath the building.
