Pfeiffer, a Perkins Eastman Studio, is currently seeking creative aspiring architects to support our continued growth. Project Architect/Designer

We are currently seeking a full-time Project Architect/Designer in our Los Angeles region. The firm strives to provide excellent opportunities for individuals to excel in a dynamic collaborative environment where personal growth is encouraged.

Primary Responsibilities:

      • Lead and assist in design efforts on design projects at a variety of scales (typically $15 – 75 million in construction cost), working with the Design Principal and Principal in Charge
      • Demonstrate a high degree of creative thinking in the design process, and be able to effectively communicate design ideas both verbally and graphically
      • Develop presentations using physical and digital tools
      • Participate in charettes and develop ideas and materials for use in project marketing pursuits
      • Originate and develop concepts and options for planning and feasibility studies
      • Author building design concepts and proposed solutions for renovation or new construction design problems within the context of a collaborative project team
      • Work directly and effectively with clients, consultants, vendors and contractors
      • Participate constructively in a team-oriented environment

Required Qualifications

      • Architectural degree from an accredited program
      • Minimum of 6 to 10 years of relevant architectural experience in cultural, institutional, and educational work
      • Architectural licensure in place or nearly complete
      • Excellent design and graphic skills, with the ability to participate in the conceptualization and design of complex projects from the pre-design through construction documents phases
      • Advanced digital modeling & rendering skills; physical model-making skills are a plus
      • Self-motivation and the ability to manage time well and achieve project deadlines
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English
      • Experience working in the context of multidisciplinary project teams
      • Working knowledge of BIM360 Design, Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup, Enscape 3D, Lumion,
      • Bluebeam, Rhino, Adobe Suite, and/or other design related software is considered essential.

Senior Technical Architect

We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Technical Architect in our Los Angeles Region. The Senior Technical Architect will develop and follow through on projects from pre-design through construction administration phases. The candidate should have both strong technical and design capabilities and the ability to collaborate with senior staff openly and effectively and to direct/mentor intermediate and junior staff.
Candidates should have the following qualifications:
• Minimum 15 or more years of relevant experience
• Registered architect, LEED AP preferred, DBIA desirable
• Experience in the development and implementation of project schedules, work plans, cartoon sets, and other tools for managing the design and documentation process
• Familiarity with both owner/architect and architect/consultant forms of agreement; design/build experience desirable
• Clear understanding of risk mitigation through technical acumen and effective construction phase management
• Thorough understanding of project delivery processes, including design/build
• Proficiency with BIM360, Revit, AutoCAD and other applicable software applications• Ability to work effectively with Principals and project design leaders in a collaborative environment
• Ability to effectively represent the firm to its clients and the community

Position responsibilities
• Leading the detailing and documentation process from concepts through CA for multi-phased, complex performing arts, library, and education and historic renovation projects
• Documenting new construction, as well as renovations and additions
• Preparing building construction drawings and details that are aligned with construction budgets
• Editing and coordinating specifications
• Researching and the innovative application of materials and building systems
• Serving as a technical resource to developing architects for details, consultant communication and constructability

Marketing Communications Graphic Designer

This position—pivotal to the ongoing evolution of our studio’s brand—requires not only graphic design experience, but also strong verbal and written communication skills; it invites inventiveness, strategic thinking and initiative to create compelling materials, in both print and digital media, to succinctly communicate the firm’s expertise. We are specifically seeking someone able to convert facts and technical information into a graphically creative message. Other important traits include organizational and time management skills, being detail-oriented, proactive, and able to multi-task. Finally, we are looking for someone who likes to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Primary Responsibilities

    • Assist with the proposal process for new work, including production of graphic and image layouts, charts, graphs and other computer-generated illustrations and info graphics, as well as in-house production
    • Assist with Pfeiffer social media efforts, including Instagram and LinkedIn
    • Assist with development of Powerpoint presentations and presentation boards
    • Assist with integration into Perkins Eastman, including updating graphic files and creating material for Pfeiffer-led practice areas
    • Support marketing, business development and PR initiatives, including brochure design, website and proposal templates
    • Support the Marketing Manager and Communications Manager as required.

    Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, communications or marketing and 1-3 years of experience in marketing, ideally in the AEC industry. Schedule flexibility and an ability to deal gracefully with unpredictable marketing deadlines is important. Must possess strong computer skills and high proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and PowerPoint. Experience with video and social media platforms is a plus.

Interior Architectural Designer III

Pfeiffer, a Perkins Eastman Studio, has an immediate opening in our downtown Los Angeles office for an experienced Senior Architectural Designer with an Interiors Specialization and/or a Senior Interior Designer with a portfolio of institutional, educational, cultural, healthcare or a combination of these building/space types.
The ideal candidate will work closely with other designers and architects on the project teams to which they are assigned to design, document and execute the project through installation. The Interior Designer will participate in programming, visioning, designing, selecting and documenting interior architectural elements, finishes and furniture. Primary Responsibilities

    • Develop and coordinate architectural interior concepts with overall project design narrative, building massing/siting/design per direction provided by Design Principals
    • Lead the conceptualization and subsequent architectural detailing through construction documentation of buildings’ interiors including, but not limited to architectural material selection, finish plans, documentation and specifications
    • Lead the production of all necessary architectural documents, including bid packages, CDs & specifications
    • Work on multiple medium to large scale projects with varied timelines
    • Oversee a team of intermediate and junior architects/designers to execute highly detailed and integrated architectural interiors
    • Build and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors to ensure quality of final deliverable
    • Work to continuously improve design process and collaboration within the multidisciplinary studio
    • Mentor junior staff
    • Travel on occasion

    Required Qualifications

      • Minimum 10 years of professional interior design experience in institutional, higher education, healthcare or a combination of those building types
      • Experience working in a design-intensive, collaborative environment
      • Strong aesthetic sense and contextual design approach, well versed in all phases of architectural interior design/ architectural projects
      • Strong leadership ability, organization skills, and experience managing work efforts with multiple interoffice project teams
      • Strong listening skills with superior, professional communication skills, both verbal and written
      • Ability to work well with different perspectives
      • Ability to provide excellent client service and project profitability
      • Proficiency in BIM (Revit) required
      • Experience with Enscape, SketchUp and other design related software a plus
      • Registered Architect or CID Certification required
      • LEED certification required
