Ground has been broken for the Windgate Center for Fine and Performing Arts on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas in Conway The new facility will provide about 100,000 SF of classroom, studio, rehearsal and design spaces and is poised to unite the arts “under one roof” with state-of-the-art facilities that foster interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary collaborations, as well as support for the quantitative and qualitative needs of visual arts, music, film and theater. Included will be a 175-seat black box theater, a 450-seat concert hall, a percussion suite, a scene/wood shop, and performer support spaces. Located at a major campus entrance, the approximately 114,000-gsd center is intended to serve both campus and community.
