Ground is Broken on University of Colorado Boulder's Imig Music Building Addition

Celebration and a ground breaking ceremony kick-off construction
February 4, 2019
Ground was broken today for our 64,000 sf expansion of the Imig Music building at CU Boulder’s College of Music. Completion of the addition is scheduled for the 2020 fall semester, which coincides with the College of Music’s 100th anniversary. Included in the addition are a state-of-the-art recording studio, classrooms, acoustically tuned practice rooms, a dance studio, theater rehearsal/performance halls, a 120-seat recital hall, faculty and student studios, and suites for the Entrepreneurial Center for Music. The addition, which is targeting LEED Gold, will consolidate the College of Music’s now scattered programing into one facility, making possible enriching cross-disciplinary collaboration. Attending the ceremony were Chancellor Phillip DiStefano, Music Advisory Board Chair Mkhy Ritter, Music & Campaign Chair Becky Roser, College of Music Dean Robert Shay, students, faculty, staff and community members. Commented Dean Shay, “ . . . Every member of the college’s community remains united by the power of music, and our new addition will significantly amplify that power.”
