Pfeiffer to Transform USC United University Church into School of Dramatic Arts

January, 4, 2021
After completion of a feasibility study, Pfeiffer will proceed with the adaptive reuse of the University of Southern California's historic United University Church for the School of Dramatic Arts . Built in 1931, the Church is a contributing structure to the California Historic Register eligible district on the USC campus, acquired by the University in 2016. Work required includes seismic upgrades, as well as utility upgrades, fire & life safety system improvements and envelope repairs. In addition to the existing chapel, the five-level building is comprised of offices, a coffee shop, a commercial kitchen and an indoor/outdoor dining area and courtyard. Plans for the transformation include relocation of all faculty and classrooms, and the addition of a comedy stage and theater.
