RiverCenter for the Performing Arts
Columbus State University
Columbus, GA
Pfeiffer completed the master plan, programming and design of RiverCenter for Performing Arts, a joint-use facility with Columbus State University and the community—integrating professional performance spaces with educational performance venues and teaching spaces. Architecturally, the Center echoes the local traditions of brick (as Columbus was once a vibrant center for the production of bricks) while offering a contemporary image that speaks to future generations.
Features of the center include a 2,000-seat multi-purpose hall suitable for touring Broadway shows, a 450-seat recital hall designed solely for music, and a 150-seat experimental theater with moveable seating and staging areas to meet a wide range of University and community performance needs.
