University of Central Arkansas
Windgate Center for Fine and Performing Arts
Conway, AR
Responding to the University’s need to replace aging and dispersed arts facilities, the new Windgate Center for Fine and Performing Arts is poised to unite the arts “under one roof” with state-of-the-art facilities that foster interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary collaborations as well as support the quantitative and qualitative needs of visual arts, music and theater.
The Windgate Center is envisioned as the new home of visual arts providing 2D and 3D studios, student work areas, workshops, instructional spaces and faculty offices. It will also be the primary home for the Music Department with a 450-seat concert hall, rehearsal and ensembles spaces, practice rooms and teaching studios. It will also feature a highly flexible 175-seat black box theater with appropriate performer support spaces, greatly enhancing theatrical performance opportunities for students. Located at a major campus entrance, the center is intended to serve both campus and community.
